Who We Are

Cookson Creek Baptist Church was established in 1836 and currently stands as the 2nd oldest continued church in Polk County. While the foundation and parts of the building are originals, the church has undergone many renovations throughout the years--one of the more recent being the stone, silo-shaped teenage Sunday School classroom. The church sits alongside the beautiful creek, after which it was named, and just down the road from Cookson Creek Cemetery.

Leadership

Brian Whitmore
Pastor

Pastor Brian Whitmore is from Cleveland, TN and currently resides in Tunnel Hill, GA. Raised and trained at Cleveland Heights Baptist Church in Dalton, Brian sat under the leadership, preaching, and teaching of Pastor Roy Grace and Associate Pastor Bruce Headrick for 23 years. Before coming to Cookson Creek, Brian served as the Sunday School Superintendent, Teen Sunday School Teacher, and Youth Minister at his home church. In 1999, Brian accepted the call to the ministry and preached his very first message in November in Caesarea, Israel! He was licensed to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ on September 14, 2003, and was ordained as a minister to the church on November 15, 2009. Outside of church (but still within his ministry), Brian is the owner of his own company, Imperial Landscapes out of Dalton, Georgia. During his free time, he enjoys spending time with his wife, Mary Ann, and his three sons (Bryson, Mason, and Dawson).
