About Us

Our mission statement does a good job of describing what is important to us. "We are a broken people called into community seeking to accept and share the love of God by following the example of Christ through service, worship, learning, fellowship, and stewardship."

What to Expect

What are services like?
We begin our worship service with a couple of songs, an opening prayer and then a time of "passing the peace". This is the time in the service where we not only great one another, but also ask the "peace of Christ" to be with us in worship. After passing the peace, we sing a couple more songs, have a scripture reading and then take time to share what God is doing in our lives and our prayer requests. Next we call the children up front to have a children's lesson and then the children go back to an activity table in the same room for the adult's lesson. Our adult lesson (or) sermon is a mixture of discussion and lecture wrapped into one. After the sermon everyone is invited to take part in the Lord's table (Communion). After communion we pray the Lord's prayer together, share up-and-coming events within the life of our community, and then dismiss after a short benediction.

What is the community like?
College Park and the surrounding areas are diverse and we are a good representation of that diversity. Our community is made up of single adults, students, newly married, married with children, and elderly. We also come from many different walks of life including geographic, economic, political, and even religious.

What if I'm not a Christian?
Everyone is welcome within our community. We believe it is important to provide space within our community for one another. Part of providing space for others is accepting each others differences, concerns, and even doubts. However, we also believe in the importance of community and we seek to provide a place for everyone to connect and serve within our community.

I came to this church in the early 70’s with my little sister Deanna. It was my favorite church experience as a child, one that I will never forget. I am glad to see it is still around, I can testify that the leaders of this church brought to me a wonderful sense of what Christianity is about. Thank you for giving this to me.
