What to Expect

What are services like?
Pastor brings an inspirational sermon every Sunday morning that teaches and encourages God's love, building God's Kingdom and community service and outreach. Hymns, spirituals and gospel music are sung most often. The Lord's Supper is served on the first Sunday of each month. Worship Services last for 1 hour and 15 minutes, not to exceed 1 hour and 30 minutes.

What is the community like?
The church is historic. Several traditional families currently make-up the membership. The church sponsors a special program each month that celebrates the life of the church and often serves as fundraisers for special projects of the church. It is a member of a United Methodist cluster of churches in the county that worships together every fifth Sunday of the year. It is also a member of an interdenominational Bible study that meets every Wednesday evening. Emphases are placed on biblically supported social justice outreach and spiritual development.

What if I'm not a Christian?
One of the purposes of the Christian Church is to bring others to Christ. Based on the "Great Commission," our United Methodist Church has stated its purpose: "The mission of the Church is to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world. Local churches provide the most significant arena through which disciple-making occurs." (The Book of Discipline of the UMC, 2008, pg. 87, Copyright 2008). If your interest is to become a part of our church family, whether as a visitor, observer, non-member participant or to seek membership, Clark UMC is open to your presence and involvement in our church community and welcomes you wholeheartedly.
