Church of the Highlands

About Us

highlands auburn alabama contemporary

At Church of the Highlands, our doors are wide open to people from all backgrounds, regardless of where they are on their spiritual journey. What people usually notice first about us is the life-giving nature of our ministry. Our goal is to infuse life and God’s love into people and families through engaging, powerful worship services that offer biblical truth in relevant and practical ways.

But it won’t take you long to discover that we’re more than just a Sunday church. In fact, we’re actually a network of small groups. And if you’d like to develop authentic and enduring relationships with others, you’ll be glad to know there are opportunities to join a group all the time.

Together, we’re striving to become the kind of church described in the Bible, where there’s relevant teaching, heart-felt worship, honest friendships, constant prayer, and compassionate care for those in need. In short, we’d like to have the kind of contagious Christianity that can influence and encourage the entire community, one life at a time.

So whether you’re a spiritual seeker who’s just starting to ask questions about God, or a committed Christian who wants to sink the roots of your faith even deeper, you can find a home here at Church of the Highlands.

What to Expect

What are services like?
Life giving, dynamic Bible based worship and relevant, challenging preaching with a passion for reaching the lost and not judging them as unworthy of salvation no matter what they done or who they are. This is a remote campus where the sermon is live broadcast from main campus in Birmingham.

What is the community like?
Honestly, it's a really large church, but still has a friendly feel due to all the folks serving going out of their way to be welcoming to the rich and famous or the poor and homeless. Dozens of small groups bring the large size down to a place for close relationships. Whites, Blacks, Latinos, Asians all worship together here and serve together. Being a university town, huge numbers of students attend and serve here and many go on to Highlands College and learn to serve in ministry.

What if I'm not a Christian?
Then, this is the church for you. In fact, the whole service is really geared toward you and even the bulletin is printed for new people. No one will look down on you for how you dress or what you believe. This is a place to come and find out about this Jesus fellow and how much He loves you, just as you are - knowing He doesn't want to leave us in that same mess He found us. We want people to find the love that changed us and don't think anyone has done ANYTHING that God cannot forgive or that they are unworthy of that love in anyway. We don't forget that we were once not Christians ourselves.

I love the energy and I’m wanting to continue to grow in Christ. I’m hungry for the word and to be somewhere. I moved here from Dothan Al and I go back home to church and I need a church home here in Auburn.
