What are services like?
Whether or not you consider yourself a Christian, a follower of another tradition, generally nonreligious, or someone who is looking for answers to life's difficult questions, we welcome you to come experience our community and explore the claims of Christianity as we gather together to worship God. Perhaps you have never been to church—or not in a long time—and fear that you won't know what to do, how to act, or what to say. Be assured, Christ the King Somerville is dedicated to providing a welcoming environment that makes it easy for you to participate with us when you visit. SERVICES All of our weekly public services begin @ 4:30 pm and conclude at approximately 6:00 pm. ARRIVING When you arrive, one of our greeters will hand you a bulletin and help to answer any questions you might have. The bulletin contains the liturgy for the service, which is a guide that the church has historically used to help us as we move through the service together. If you have any questions about the elements of the liturgy, please don't hesitate to ask. WHAT TO WEAR Please wear whatever you are comfortable wearing. We have some folks who like to wear their “Sunday best”, and we have others who would never think of coming to church in anything but jeans and a t-shirt. FAMILIES Our church is passionate about serving families and enabling them to thrive in the city. King’s Kids hopes to equip and partner with families as you seek to invest in the spiritual wholeness of your children. We value the role of kids as a central part of our community and desire to create an environment where they feel known, loved, and respected. Children of all ages are warmly welcomed to our entire service--we like a little noise. We also offer a safe place for kids to be together during the service. Our intention is to draw kids into an engaging, enjoyable, and provocative encounter with the gospel using language that is familiar to them. 0-2 year olds: The nursery is open through the entire service. The little ones are free to play, sleep, cuddle, and laugh with caring attendants. During Children's church, these children join in for songs, storytime, and activities. You will be contacted via text message during worship if needed. 2-3 year olds: The playroom is open throughout the entire service for children ages 2 & 3. During Children's Church, the children will experience a lesson through stories, songs, games, pretend play, and discussion. 4-8 years olds: Preschoolers and early elementary children begin in worship and are dismissed midway through the service to Children's Church where they will learn and discover in a language and style more suitable to them. Through hands-on activities, music, and discussion, we encourage them to learn to ask good questions as they discover who they are and who God is. Parents of little ones, there is a designated and semi-private area in the balcony for anyone during the service. You are welcome to use this at your convenience. We apologize that since we are in a shared building, we are unable to completely clear this space for you. Also, we take the safety of our children very seriously at CTKS. Therefore, all of our nursery and childcare workers are trained volunteers who have been CORI checked to help ensure a safe environment for your children. AFTER THE SERVICE After the service many of us stick around to eat goodies and make new friends. You are warmly invited to stay and join us. We would love the chance to meet and get to know you.

Therefore, we are dedicated to creating a safe environment providing honest answers to any and all honest questions concerning faith, life, and God.
