What to Expect

What are services like?
Our worship is reverent and meaningful. We follow the historic liturgy and practice the traditions passed down by the saints before us. We see them as incredible treasures that center our worship experience on the most important reality of all, Christ crucified (1 Corinthians 2:2). We also understand that the Word of God and the Sacraments (Baptism, Confession & Absolution, and the Lord's Supper) are indispensable to our faith. Therefore, we constantly highlight these gifts as the focal point of our life together. The songs that we sing are traditional. Our service springs from confessional Lutheran liturgy. Our liturgy and language in the church is centered around being both biblical and accessible. We begin each service by standing and singing during the processional with the crucifix. We invoke the presence of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit in the invocation. We listen to the appointed weekly readings from God's Word and a message (sermon) according to them. We conclude the service with Holy Communion followed by the Benediction. After our service and Bible Study (following the service in the fellowship hall) together, we enter back into the world in our various vocations with praise in our hearts.

What is the community like?
Our church community seeks to make visitors feel welcome from the moment they walk in the door. We also seek out various opportunities to build our Christian fellowship with one another through a variety of ways: in the Divine Service, in Bible Study, and in other fellowship events. We take seriously the charge of the author of Hebrews, where he wrote: "Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful. And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near" (Hebrews 10:23-25). We pray that you all of our people are both encouraged and comforted in our congregation.

What if I'm not a Christian?
We welcome all visitors to our church. We ask that those joining us in worship be respectful of our practices and policies. We unapologetically confess that the Word of God is inerrant, infallible, God-breathed, and powerful (2 Timothy 3:16-17). We pray that above all, the Holy Spirit creates and strengthens faith in Christ through the Divine Service and the ministry of our congregation. We encourage those who have questions about our Lutheran faith or the Bible in general to ask the pastor.
