Christ Gospel Church

A newcomer can expect a robust worship experience which, in the beginning, was different than my Baptist upbringing but now I have learned to love it a lot. Our primary Sunday morning preaching minister has a gift of communicating in a clear but challenging way. He will speak the truth without apology but you can sense his maturity and love underneath. As of this writing there is an exceptionally strong youth program. The youth have their own separate service on Sunday evenings with youth ministers able to communicate effectively at their level of interest and fervency. The Sunday school program also thrives and is well led. There is an adult choir led by a well trained director and a children's choir. There are also programs for seniors, singles and much, much more. Our church has missions and, in some cases, strong organizations in more than 30 countries around the world so missions is a major thrust.

My father was a Baptist minister. I attended and met my wife at John Brown University in Siloam Springs, AR, an evangelical Christian university. I am grateful for my faith based upbringing and my wife and I's college experience. Both brought me closer to God and whetted my appetite to go deeper in the Word of God. My senior year at JBU my future wife and I met a committed Christian couple in the Siloam Springs area that introduced us to a deeper walk in the Spirit of God. After searching these new truths out in the Word of God I became certain that this was Biblical and for us today. When I worked the next summer in Tyler, Texas, I found and began attending a small Christ Gospel Church. The Word of God was rich and deep and the Spirit of God overflowing. In the fall of 1974 I moved to Jeffersonville, IN to continue my studies at Christ Gospel Bible Institute. My future wife, at that time, was teaching school still in Arkansas. I shared what I was learning with her and eventually we married and settled in the Southern Indiana area. She learned to love our church for the principles of Truth that were both challenging and enlightening to her inquiring mind. We have reared our son, Jonathan, and daughter, Melody, in our church and they too have made it their own and chosen to pass it to their children as well. I love this church because it points me to a more meaningful personal relationship with Jesus Christ. It provides a practical pathway from God's Word on how to grow in love and maturity and obedience that has set my life on a solid foundation and the my future and that of my family in a positive and fulfilling direction.
