Chapel Road Baptist Church

My dad, Phil Carlson, was the pastor there for over 25 years when it was called Doe Run Chapel. He served during the 50's until late 70's. It had 2 pot belly stoves for heat at first until heater was put in. My mom played the pump organ and there was an outhouse complete with spiders and daddy long legs in the back. My dad drove about an hour each way from our home. There were wonderful families who were from farms and ranches around the area that made up the small congregation. Every September there was a HOMECOMING open to everyone who ever visited. Wonderful home cooking filled the food laden tables outside where the parking lot is now and we enjoyed a fantastic lunch before having a wonderful afternoon service of music and singing. When I visited Pennsylvania, as I now live in California, we drove by and took some pictures and enjoyed fond memories.
