Who We Are

Our church building is over 150 years old. The congregation was formed in the early 1800's, and met in the upper room of one of the residents for several years. The very first, and then third, Annual Conference of the United Brethren Church met in the area of Springfield, with the original Big Spring congregation hosting. Great pains have been taken to preserve the historic nature of the church. The Christmas Eve Service is unbelievable - candle lit lamps on each window sill, candles up front, then a candle held by each congregant. It's a real "God-moment!"

Our Services

What are services like?
Casual dress, relaxed atmosphere. Although we have a traditional liturgy as a guide, we are always open to the working of the Holy Spirit. Folks are genuinely welcoming and warm. Kids welcome !

What is the community like?
We sit amidst a very rural area of South Central Pennsylvania. Some of the trees in our property are over 300 years old. Numerous restored log cabins and original stone homes surround the church grounds.

What if I'm not a Christian?
You're doubly welcome ! Everyone of us is on a path; some further ahead, some not quite so far. Our services are easy to follow and relaxed. We display the words to hymns on power point, as well as every other aspect of the service projected through power point.
