Carolyne Lark Swayze shared their experience Nov 2022
My grandparents, James and Rowena Lark, were the founders of this church. James was ordained as a minister in 1946 and became the first Black bishop of the Mennonite church in 1953. The original church began as a storefront. I certainly remember Paul and Lois King.
David King shared their experience Jun 2021
My parents Paul and Lois King were pastors of Bethel in 1952 to 1962. Dad knew Bro Lark very well and helped to construct the current building. 3 of us children in our family attended the Day nursery as young children,I went to first grade at Medill School. My older sister also attended school there. All 4 of us children were born at Presbyterian St. Luke. I have very fond memories of this church and the congregation. We lived in the attached parsonage.
Karen Bates-Rivers shared their experience May 2021
Bethel has become home for me again instead of going South for the True Word of God.
Bethel has come along and planned me back On the Westside of Chicago to empower and fellowship in and with Men and Women of Gods and The Pastor has made it The Living Word of God to Live and Love by each and every person around me.
Thanks for you and yourLovely Wife for your obedience and steadfast Love for Gods People and his followers.
