Tyra L Frazier

Meet Reverend Tyra L. Frazier, a dedicated leader and current Senior Pastor at Bethel AME Church in Bay Shore, New York. Born and raised in Kansas City, Missouri, Rev. Frazier has a profound commitment to justice and ministry. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Administration of Justice from the University of Missouri - Kansas City and is a certified Court Appointed Special Advocate in Missouri. Her theological education includes a Master of Arts in Christian Ministries from Liberty University, obtained in May 2018, and a Master of Divinity from the Rawlings School of Divinity, completed in May 2022. Rev. Frazier’s ministerial journey began at the Greater Allen Cathedral of New York under the mentorship of Rev. Dr. Elaine Flake. She further honed her pastoral skills as the Executive Minister to Rev. Stephen Michael Lewis at Bethel AME Church in Freeport, NY. Her preaching debut was on June 11, 2016, with a sermon titled “Let’s Go to Samaria,” which marked her licensing in the African Methodist Episcopal Church. She was ordained as an Itinerant Deacon in December 2021 and as an Itinerant Elder in April 2022 during the 200th Session of the New York Annual Conference. Prior to her current role, she served as pastor at Morris Brown AME Church in Queens, New York, and Bethel AME Church in York, PA. Rev. Frazier finds deep inspiration in her favorite scripture, 1 Peter 5:10, which speaks to the resilience and grace provided by God.
