About Us

Ever since our first families gathered together to form the Ruby Avenue Mission, and then Atonement Lutheran Church in 1930, the people of Atonement – through the power of God’s almighty Word – have continued to: GATHER together regularly in worship and fellowship, GROW together in knowledge and understanding of the Word, and GO into our neighborhoods, workplaces, extended families, and more, offering our time, talents, and treasures, in service to others, as an expression of Christ’s love.

What to Expect

What are services like?
A standard worship service at Atonement lasts about an hour. During that hour, you'll hear scripture readings and applications of those readings to your everyday life, sing hymns, and pray.

What is the community like?
At Atonement, you'll see people who are young and old, dressed up and dressed casually, and from various ethnic backgrounds. After worship, there's fellowship time to meet and chat with Atonement members and other visitors.

What if I'm not a Christian?
What does it mean to “join” a church? Most importantly, it’s a statement of what you believe. When you join a church, you’re saying that you believe that church is teaching God’s Word accurately. (John 8:31-32) That’s a strong statement, so you’d first want to thoroughly study what a church teaches before you join it. Because it’s a confession of faith, joining a church also means that you’re uniting with a specific group of believers to worship God, to study the Word, to pray, to share Jesus with others, and to support God’s work. Finally, joining a church also gives us the chance to serve. What that service will look like will be different for each person.
