Betsy Singleton Syder

Rev. Betsy Singleton Snyder, a native Arkansan, has been an ordained pastor in the United Methodist Church (UMC) for twenty-two years. Having served rural, suburban and urban congregations, her two longest appointments were at Pulaski Heights UMC as associate pastor and Quapaw Quarter UMC as senior pastor. After earning her bachelors degree in English at Hendrix College and masters of divinity at Southern Methodist University's Perkins School of Theology, she was involved in mission work in Ekaterinburg, Russia through the General Board of Global Ministries (GBGM) of the UMC. She also served at churches in Blevins, Hazen and DeValls Bluff. Rev. Betsy has served on the boards of the Arkansas Hospice Foundation, St. Vincent Visiting Nurses Association and Harmony Health Charitable Clinic. She currently serves on the Arkansas Zoological Foundation Board of Directors. Rev. Betsy was chosen in 2011 as a survivor representative of the American Heart Association’s 'Go Red for Women', a program to celebrate the energy, passion and power women have to band together to wipe out heart disease and stroke. She has written for the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette ‘s religion section and website, littlerockmamas.com, where her blog, “Stepping on Cheerios” chronicles her family life, community participation and love of film, books, SEC football and exercise. She and her husband of seven years, Dr. Vic Snyder, former Congressman for the Second District of Arkansas and executive with Arkansas Blue Cross Blue Shield, have four sons, Penn and triplets Wyatt, Sullivan and Aubrey, and dogs Dottie and Powder.
