Pastor needs more study and prayer.

DID THE PASTOR PASS HIS/HER BASIC SCIENCE COURSE IN HIGH SCHOOL? The risk of developing dangerous symptoms of the pandemic COVID-19 may be increased in people who are older. The risk may also be increased in people of any age who have other serious health problems — such as heart or lung conditions, weakened immune systems, obesity, or diabetes. This is similar to what is seen with other respiratory illnesses, such as the non-pandemic flu (influenza). ALL PEOPLE ARE IMPORTANT – THAT’S BASIC BIBLE TEACHING.
  • Ralph
Jesus gave us a choice; He didn’t force us to follow Him or the Bible. And He taught us that you reap what you sow. So, you have the choice to protect your fellow man from your potential COVID breath by simply wearing a mask. The small inconvenience is offset by the decreased death and sickness caused by the virus in the world. By doing so, you show our Creator that you want to be treated as you treat our fellow man. Don’t JUST read the Word; show Jesus that you WANT to show Him that you are a follower by you actions. Be genuine!
  • Rachel
Based on Cat’s proof of science, America would have had fewer deaths, fewer sicknesses, less employment problems, lower food costs, etc. if the pastor, his followers, and people like them would have taken the time to study the science or listened to their doctors and medical professionals. But they couldn’t think beyond themselves and what a terrible burden it was to wear a mask. I am sure that the Bible speaks to this level of selfishness.
  • Cat
    R U selfish? Read the science: https://weather.com/health/coronavirus/video/masks-quarantines-were-effective-during-covid-pandemic

Have you heard of Karma? Do you know what it means? Google it! How about “What goes around comes around?” God says the same in Galatians 6:7-9. If the pastor is not protecting everyone in the congregation, he/she is NOT pleasing the Spirit. Be VERY careful here. Listen to your professional medical personnel and not someone who has no science education.
  • Jim
I had plans of attending WWAMI after HHS, but will change after reading the numerous comments about pastors. I can’t see busting my butt to get good grades and spending the time and money to become a doctor when pastors are already smarter than MDs. I can have an easier life, save money and time, and influence more people of a certain flavor by just becoming a pastor. I think that I will just make religion my major.
  • Dr. Bekind
COVID-19 spreads when an unmasked infected person breathes out droplets and very small particles that contain the virus. These droplets and particles can be breathed in by other people or land on their eyes, noses, or mouth. In some circumstances, they may contaminate surfaces they touch.
  • Rachel
From reading the many posts, it sound like the "pastor" overlooked Matt. 5:9. Surely there was a solution where everybody felt safe in church/
  • Junior
It’s appalling how many “religious” folks care more about the trivial effort it takes to wear a mask than the health/welfare/life of their fellow human being. The Bible tells us to shun the mere appearance of evil and this is what it is referring to.
  • Alice
Some folks attend church for years without understanding the application of the simplest of all biblical concepts. They can talk about it all day long, never understanding how to apply the scripture within their own lives. It’s addressed in both the Old Testament (Lev. 19:18 & 19:34) and the New Testament (Matt. 7:12). All they can comprehend is that they are inconvenienced by wearing a mask even though the pandemic has taken many lives and is extremely contagious. Watch out for those who refuse to allow God’s Word to guide their lives. It could cost you both your life and your eternity.
  • Bunny
This dude/dudette must have flunked basic science because even a misanthrope cares about some folks.
  • Cindy M.
There will always be those who feel that God allows them to choose the scriptures (Matthew 7:12) that don’t apply to them, like Jim Bakker.
  • Timothy
The standard to which pastors and elders are held is a very high one. Why? Because they represent Christ to their congregation and they represent the church to the world.
  • Omar
Readers: If you believe in the Bible, then trust the Bible and not those who deviate or pretend. First read 2 Corinthians 11:13-14 about the devil being the great pretender. The read Romans 13:1-5 about obeying man’s law (science is part of man’s and God’s law, because God created science and scientists). Don’t blame God’s church when the pastor deviates from His Bible. Blame and rebuke the pastor. This church is nothing more than a business to the “pastor.” Be loyal to God’s Bible (not the pastor) and you will be rewarded. Be vigilant against the pretenders and stay loyal to God’s Bible.
  • Jenifer W.
Read Proverbs 21:2, then you can see why this "pastor" feels that it is ok to NOT protect his congregation (or anyone else) from a pandemic virus that has killed millions of people. This really does not ring true with everything else discussed in God's Bible.

It’s all about TRUST. Imagine that you were in danger and you asked a friend to protect you from that danger, and they had the capability to do so. And they refused. Would they still be your friend? Now imagine that this “friend” is your “pastor” (church leader). If you can’t trust a church leader with your safety, health, and welfare, do you dare trust him with your eternal salvation? Food for thought. It’s ALL about trust.

I’m new and glad that I happened upon this site. I’m in my 80s and fall into the immunocompromised group. I would never attend ANY church where the pastor doesn’t understand 1 Corinthians 3:16-17. It is important that we protect God’s temple whether it be our own or others’. I will not allow anyone to exhale their potential COVID-infected breath towards me. And I refuse to carry the infection on to other people. America is a mess because of the lazy, selfish people who refuse to protect their fellow man.
  • End Times
You know it’s the work of Satan when the pastor REFUSES to help and protect Christians during the highly infectious and potentially deadly COVID pandemic and crisis. What has happened to kindness? Where is the caring? This is not the Christianity that helped build America. It’s still IN GOD WE TRUST but look out for those who claim to be a pastor.

This dude reminds me so much of my supervisor at work. He will dish out the work (obey the Bible) yet he refuses and is incapable of doing any work (obeying the Bible) himself. False prophet? You decide for yourself.
  • A child of God
Pastor: Shame on you. It’s God’s church, not yours. You are merely the shepherd who is responsible to guide and allow the congregation to feel safe, which you are NOT doing. You have every indication of narcissistic personality disorder (NPD) and should seek help for yourself ….. before judgement day. You’ve been warned. Everyone needs church and not just those that YOU deem “worthy.”
  • Hannah
IRRESPONSIBLE PASTOR! COVID-19 was declared a pandemic by the WHO. With its rapid spread within and between countries, COVID-19 was classified as a public health emergency of international concern that required a systematic international response. This pastor assumed NO responsibility for his congregation by protecting them from this debilitating virus. Interestingly, he allowed his congregation to protect HIM by wearing a mask. His lack of concern for the safety of others clearly violates the Bible that he professes. Steer clear if you want/need the TRUTH. Sickness causes both personal and societal damage.
  • Isaac
A friend wanted to attend this church and asked the pastor for protection. The pastor told her “Wear a mask.” My friend explained that her mask protected the pastor and others had to wear a mask to protect her (this is proven science). The pastor refused and many were infected. So how does a person attend church with uncaring pastors? Half of all infections during this COVID pandemic have taken place this year (2022); it’s possible that more than 80 percent of all COVID cases will ultimately take place in 2022. With these new variants, the average person has been infecting many more than one person. Nobody wants to be sick or hospitalized. It’s time this pastor wakes up and studies some medical evidence if he wants to be in compliance with the Bible that he professes. However, refusal to care for the health of others is indicative of the world turmoil today.
  • Luis G.
Para las personas de habla hispana en Alaska, este pastor no ofrece protección de salud contra COVID. Muchos otros han contraído el virus aquí.
  • Lucy G.
My reason for avoiding this church MAY be due to the pastor's lack of medical/scientific knowledge. Anyone can "carry" the Coronavirus for 2 weeks or more with little or no symptoms at all. During that time, this person can carry and disperse this virus to hundreds of other people. These newly infected people could get violently sick, hospitalized, or even die. Why would ANYONE gamble with the health, or death, of other people? As a Christian, this just doesn't make sense to me. But maybe this pastor has a watered-down version of the Bible. Or maybe he just doesn't care. This is why everyone should wear a mask during this pandemic.
  • Pastor Brilliance
God has shown me what is best (safest) for my congregation regardless of what the government, science, medical professionals, the public, or the Bible says (including Matt. 7:12). So don’t even think of trying to remove me from this position because I broke the public’s trust. God won’t allow it.
  • COVID Survivor
Weekly Epidemiological Update - 13 July - Globally, the number of new weekly cases increased for the fifth consecutive week after a declining trend since the last peak in March 2022. During the week of 4 to 10 July 2022, over 5.7 million new cases were reported, a 6% increase compared to the previous week. The number of new weekly deaths was similar to that of the previous week, with over 9800 fatalities reported. As of 10 July 2022, just under 553 million confirmed cases and over 6.3 million deaths have been reported globally. But do pastors care? If so, what are they doing about it?
  • Marco T.
This guy must be one of those do-as-I-say-and-not-as-I-do sort of guys. On top of the COVID and other world events, we have this selfishness that we have to put up with.
  • Matthew Seven-Twelve
The sign in the doctor’s office says: I WEAR A MASK FOR YOUR PROTECTION, PLEASE RETURN THE KIND CONSIDERATION AND WEAR A MASK FOR MY PROTECTION. Are you smarter than world-wide medical professionals? BTW, this is addressed in Matthew 7:12 in case you haven’t got that far in your bible.

Based on what I am reading here, we are clearly in the end times. The pastor refuses to protect others (unholy); and has an appearance of godliness (2 Tim 3: 1-5). He has no idea of the damage that he has done to the world by willfully spreading the COVID. See that no one leads you astray (Matt 24: 1-51). His love for fellow Christians is cold (Matt 24:12).
  • Phillip H.
Hebrews 10:24-25 – Why would any pastor purposefully create an environment (church service) where some Christians feel their health and safety is jeopardized? What could be their unchristian-like motive? Everyone needs God’s church, not just an elite few.

Great website, great comments, and great references to biblical scripture. Thank you all. Beware of those who refuse to protect the health of others (John 10:10-29). The devil has received many academy awards for his/her drama/performance. Real Christians protect their temple/body and help others to protect their own temple, even those with weakened immune systems. Don’t be fooled by the spoken words, evaluate the concern/actions for people other than themselves. Life and good health are valuable to each and every one of us. The virus can get into any body opening (mouth, eyes, nose, etc.). Don’t be guilty of spreading COVID, Long COVID, sickness, hospitalization, and/or death. We are promised judgement by the Almighty. We have the free will to protect EVERYONE.
  • Francine
Hebrews 10:24-25, 1 John 1:7. So what can we deduce about a pastor who refuses to protect everyone in the congregation – even those with a weakened immune system? Are they a genuine pastor in God’s eyes?
  • Concerned

My suggestion is to stay away from this church if you value your health. They are not considerate of those with a fragile immune system. God expects for us to take care of our body and allows us to shun those that are inconsiderate towards us.
  • Brad
1 Timothy 6:10. Money (tithing) is more important than people's health, safety, and welfare. Be very careful here. Outward appearances can be deceptive. Actions speak louder than words (performance).
  • Brad
The pastor knows that his folks don’t care enough about the elderly and those with compromised immune system to wear masks so he won’t require it, so that he can keep those tithes rolling in. He’s right in tune with the Bible. Ha!
  • Matt
I’ve found the following website that can help believers learn church policy on protecting the congregation against the destructive coronavirus pandemic: UPCI.org. Please protect God’s temple.
  • Samir
Let's work to shut off the selfishness; build the trust. Selfishness and distrust are what keeps the world at war. All faiths can use this as an example to help make this a better world for all of mankind.
  • Hendy
Thank the Lord for the free will that He has given us. Unfortunately, some choose to use their free will to NOT obey God's plan. Please pray for those who can't be trusted to protect others against this world-wide devastating pandemic. Wouldn't it be nice if everyone could trust everyone else? What a wonderful world this would be.
  • Concerned
If you choose to not protect others by wearing a mask, please read: https://www.ama-assn.org/delivering-care/public-health/what-doctors-wish-patients-knew-about-long-covid. Failing to do so may have long-term (eternity) effects. My previous pastor brought his COVID to church, infected others in the narthex, and then had a heart attack. Study the science (and Bible) before refusing to protect others ..... PLEASE!

As a believer, forgiveness is easy. But trust is essential and earned. When it comes to our health, we can only trust those with a proven track record of caring for others' health. Do not allow anyone to compromise your health.
  • Sam
There has been one good outcome from the deadly coronavirus. It has allowed believers to identify those who have no intention adhering to the GOLDEN RULE. Always protect God’s temple by steering clear of those who refuse to protect others. And let other believers know of this truth.
  • Be Sincere
Reference Luke 3:17 and Matthew 7:12. Pastor, are you wheat or chaff? Did you protect your congregation from the potentially life-threatening coronavirus by wearing a mask, even when you had the virus? Many already know the answer to this so be careful when you answer this – and – remember the 9th commandment.
  • Unknown
It's going to take God and our medical professionals to get this fixed!
  • Matt W.
How do you justify NOT protecting the church? The answer is that there is no justification. Read 1 Tim 3:1-7.
  • Francine
    1 Peter 5:8, John 10:10, Luke 22:31 ....... 1,000,000 deaths.

Being complicit with a million American deaths makes a person wonder about their Spirit (Romans 8:9), Eh?
  • Henri
PLEASE! Obey the Bible (Matt 7:12) and the science, not others’ illiterate opinions. Wear a mask and stop this destructive pandemic. The mask actually protects others more so than it does you. Your COVID virus breath can infect others through their eyes.
  • Cici
Goodness, goodness, goodness! What religion is this that won't protect its members?
  • Convinced
You know it is the end times when church "leadership" knowingly refuse to obey scripture. These pretenders will be dealt with by the Creator.
  • Doesn't Matter
Melissa: You’ve said so many things wrong that it’s difficult to know where to start. So what if the masks are uncomfortable, they have been proven to work? Mask wearing is not all about selfish you. Go read Matthew 7:12. How would you feel if your child caught the virus and died? How would you feel if your grandparent caught the virus and then had a heart attack? Both of these situations would have been prevented if everyone wore a mask to protect everyone else. Being a Christian isn’t just about talking the talk, it’s about walking the walk.
  • Melissa
Cat, Robert, & Henri: I don’t like wearing a mask because they are hard to talk through, their hot, and uncomfortable. Besides, it hasn’t been proven that they work to curtail the pandemic. I think that you are being too hard on the church/pastor. God will forgive if a few folks get sick, and I really don’t think that anyone is going to die. You worry too much – God forgives. Cut the church some slack!
  • Henri L.
Thanks Robert, you're right on. It amazes me how many of these "Christians" will believe their medical professionals when they have to go to the doctor by wearing a mask. Yet, out in the public or at church, they couldn't care less who they infect with their exhale. Even folks with masks can get the airborne COVID in their eyes and get violently sick. WHAT ARE THESE "PASTORS" THINKING? Or are they? Duh!
  • Robert P.
Sincerity? Pastor chose to NOT wear a protective mask, but …. The Bible (Romans 13:1-6) says to obey our gov’t (CDC says to wear a mask during pandemic due to extreme contagiousness and post-COVID organ damage). 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 to protect God’s temple (our bodies). And Matthew 7:12 says to treat others as you want to be treated. Do you want to be sick, die, have post-COVID organ failure? Millons have died and many more have been hospitalized. Not sure the pastor has studied adequately.
  • Cat
Pastor is too lazy to wear a mask to protect his congregation. Instead, he chooses to spew his COVID-infested breath into Christians' eyes as well as their inhale. Laziness is not a Christian attribute.
  • Ethan
    Be very WARY.
