As Director of Music for Jackson's First Presbyterian Church, Sipkje directs the Chancel and Shout! choirs, Presby and Presby Jr. Ringers, oversees the Orff program and plays organ and piano for all Sunday services, funerals and weddings. Sipkje currently serves as Sub-Dean for the Ann Arbor Chapter of the American Guild of Organists and is a Member-At-Large on the Executive Committee for the Hymn Society in the United States and Canada. The Reverend Dr. James D. Hegedus (AKA "Pastor Jim") earned his Doctor of Ministry degree in Parish Revitalization from McCormick Theological Seminary (PCUSA) in Chicago, IL. He has been married to Kris, a practicing psychologist, for nearly 25 years. Together they have two grown children, Alex, who is pursuing a PhD in Space Science at the University of Michigan, and Stephanie, who is a Flute Performance major at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, as well as 3 cats! Pastor Jim hikes, plays golf badly, also plays the ukelele for fun and is an accomplished home brewer.
