Rodney & Sharon Coleman came to Immanuel Baptist Church in August 2016 after 28 years of ministry in Latin America with the International Mission Board, SBC, and 7 years of church ministry in Michigan and Ohio. God brought them together some 37 years ago as Rodney attended Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas and Sharon taught in an elementary school. Rodney accepted Christ at 12 years of age in his home church in Hereford, Texas where his Pastor discipled him; in college he was a member of the Baptist Student Ministry Executive Council each year and spent summers doing misson work and worked with youth in University Heights Baptist Church; finally feeling God's call into the ministry and attending SWBTS seminary. i met Sharon in the local church. Sharon also accepted Christ as a child in her church in China Spring, Texas and always felt called to teach. She received her degree from Baylor University of Buffalo and has a varied teaching background including overseas, though God stretched her through many avenues of service. She loved women's ministry, led in Haitian Diaster Relief for the IMB, twice led the Business Office in her country of service, and spent many years in actively working to help plant brand new churches. They worked with the Lakes Fellowship Baptist Church plant in Michigan; are the founding pastor of Victory Baptist Church in Norwalk, Ohio; learned Spanish at the Spanish Language Institute in San Jose, Costa Rica; served 10 years in Cali, Colombia planting new churches; finally due to Colombian violence they finished their last 17 years of international service in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.
