Brian "Red" Burchfield

Pastor Red was born in Anchorage, Alaska and lived in Eugene and Salem, Oregon during his K-12 grade years. He is a graduate of Pacific Lutheran University, where he also met and later married, Susan Vanhoy. They now have two adult daughters and three grandsons. Pastor Red has served congregations in Iowa, Colorado, Oregon, Washington and South Africa, in rural, suburban and urban settings and in solo and associate team positions. He has most recently served as the Director of Outreach, ELCA in Region 1 and the Interim Pastor at Faith Lutheran Church, Seattle, Washington. Pastor Red has a special concern for those facing change and experiencing loss and grief. He seeks to engage leaders in the formation of an evangelizing congregation that makes disciples for Jesus Christ and equips people to use their gifts for God's reign in both the church and the world. Pastor Red loves parish ministry, reading, the outdoors, time with his grandchildren and good jokes.
