He received Jesus Christ as savior in December of 1989, at his parents’ home. In the summer of 2001, while preparing to pursue an Associate’s degree in Business Information Systems, Josh sensed God's call to ministry. That fall he enrolled at Heartland Baptist Bible College, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He married Charity Thomas on May 31, 2008. He is a graduate of Baptist Bible College in Springfield, Missouri with a Bachelor of Science degree in Pastoral Ministry and Bible. He continued his studies through Andersonville Theological Seminary in Camilla, Georgia, earning both a Master of Ministry, and a Doctor of Ministry. Josh had served has a Pastoral Intern, then a Youth Minister, while in college. He then went on to serve in the Springfield area as a Ministry Leader, a College Minister, and a Senior Pastor. Additionally Josh engaged in a church plant effort in Marshfield, Missouri. Josh believes his calling is to help people know God and grow closer to Him through their relationship with Jesus Christ. He has always felt that his calling was to be a bi-vocational minister and he is grateful for all the opportunities God has allowed him to be a part of through the years. Josh received and accepted the call as pastor on June 7, 2017, serving as the lead teaching pastor and overseeing all leaders and ministries at First Baptist Church.
