Q. Who’s your favorite Christian teacher/speaker/leader? A. I have lots of them. My favorite Bible commentators are William Barkley and Warren Wiersbe. On the radio, I like Chuck Swindoll, Steve Brown and Alistair Begg. There’s a retired pastor from Louisville named Bob Russell, and of course, the man I consider my pastor, Lucky Arnold at First Pres. Q. What do you do when you’re not “pastoring”? A. Sleep. When I’m not sleeping, Donna keeps me pretty busy. We have four married kids and four grandkids spread out from Jacksonville to California. Most of our spare time is spent trying to stay connected with them. Q. Do you have any hidden talents? A. I make a very good “cookie monster” who loves to chase grandkids around the house. Q. What do you like most about being a pastor? A. My favorite thing to do is to preach and teach the Bible. Q. Do you have any nicknames? A. “Mill.” When I was little, everyone called me Mill. Now, the only one who calls me that is Donna. Q. What’s the first car you ever owned? How much did you pay for it? A. It was a 1959 Chrysler Imperial with red leather seats and gaudy red carpet. That baby had a push-button transmission, high-tech for its day. I paid $50 for it in 1972 and it lasted about a year before it died for good. Q. Who’s your favorite sports team? A. The Ohio State Buckeyes, of course. And if you don’t know what a buckeye is, you’ve obviously never been blessed to live in the state of Ohio. Go Bucks! Q. If you could do any other profession, what would you do and why? A. I spent 30 years in the business world and I can’t think of anything I would rather be doing now than being a pastor. Q. Who did you look up to when you were growing up? A. My Grandpa Wells. He was a big strong, rough, tough, man’s man sort of guy. It wasn’t until I got a little older that I began to appreciate my dad. He was a very special man and my hero.
