Michael Durso

Michael Durso grew up with a minimal understanding of God. He came of age during the hippie movement, where casual drug use was generally accepted. In 1975 while living with his girlfriend Maria, they had an encounter with Christ that led to a radical conversion.michael-durso Since 1985, Michael has been the senior pastor of Christ Tabernacle, which is the first church to come out of the Brooklyn Tabernacle. Starting with just 30 people, the church has grown to thousands, with seven services each weekend. The core service remains the midweek prayer meeting, which both Michael and Maria believe is essential. When the youth ministry began to explode in 1997, Michael saw the opportunity for unprecedented growth and diverse creativity. This enabled the youth to showcase their gifts and minister to the Lord. With a passion to continuously reach the lost for Christ and minister to the disenfranchised, the ministry of Christ Tabernacle under Michael Durso extends outside the church, into neighboring communities and beyond. Christ Tabernacle has been called a City of Refuge where those who walk into the building can experience and feel the love of God. It has been said of Christ Tabernacle; there is “no place like home”. This statement is a true reflection of the heart and desire of Michael Durso for a Christian community.
