Rev. Dr. George Saint Anthony Ferguson, Sr. was born in Charleston, SC. He is the second of four children born to Deas. Kathleen and the late Dea. William Ferguson. He attended the public schools of Charleston graduating from Charles A. Brown High School with honors. He graduated from Duke University, Durham, NC with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Religion and Chemistry; the University of Missouri, Columbia, MO with a Master of Business Administration degree in Quantitative Analysis; and the United Theological Seminary, Dayton, OH with Master of Divinity in Theology and Doctor of Ministry degrees in Church Administration as a Dr. Edward L. Wheeler Fellow. His doctoral thesis and book are entitled Stewardship and Discipleship Development in the African American Church. Dr. Ferguson was saved and baptized at his home church, Eastside Baptist Church, Charleston, SC in 1970. He was licensed in 1983 and ordained in 1984 and has over 30 years in the ministry and 23 years in the pastorate. He accepted his calling to the ministry at Mt. Olive Baptist Church, Arlington, TX. He was an Associate Minister at Mt. Olive Baptist Church, Arlington, TX; Tabernacle Baptist Church, Dayton, OH and Metropolitan Baptist Church, Washington, DC. He was a Youth Pastor at Grace Missionary Baptist Church, Dayton, OH. He is the Founder and Pastor of Christ Creative Baptist Church, Temple Hills, MD. Dr. Ferguson was the pastor of two churches in Charleston, SC. He is a member of Kairos Prison Ministry International, Winter Park, FL. He is a Certified Seminary Extension Instructor of the Southern Baptist Convention, Nashville, TN. He was a member of the Full Gospel Businessman’s Fellowship in America, Beaverton, OR. He was the President and a Professor at Faith Fellowship Ministries International Biblical Institute of Faith Fellowship Ministries International, Washington, DC. He was a Professor at Canaan Bible College at Canaan Missionary Baptist Church, North Charleston, SC. He was the Canaan Bible College Distinguish Professor for 2010. He is a master teacher and Bible scholar. He resumed the pastorate of Christ Creative Baptist Church in 2012 Dr. Ferguson was a Captain in the United States Air Force, a Chaplain in the District of Columbia Army National Guard and a Senior Contract Manager for several defense contractors in Washington, DC. He is a Government employee in Washington, DC. He is a Certified Professional Contract Manager of the National Contract Management Association. Dr. Ferguson is married to the lovely Lawan Denise Shaw Ferguson of Washington, DC. She is a graduate of Prince George’s Community College with an AAS degree in Business, Charleston Southern University with a BA degree in Religion and Strayer University with an MBA degree in Contracts Management. She is a Government employee in Washington, DC. Dr. Ferguson is the father of two children - George II - a computer expert; and Candice – an attorney. Dr. Ferguson is a member of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., and a Prince Hall Master Mason. Dr. Ferguson has written several religious articles that have appeared in The Washington Post, The Prince George's Journal, The Prince George's Post, The Post and Courier, and The Charleston Chronicle. His favorite verse is Isaiah 40:31, “But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; they shall walk, and not faint.” THE GREATEST THING IN HIS LIFE IS BEING A CHILD OF GOD.
