Canyon Community Church
Staff & Leaders

  • Hans Chamberlain
    Elder

  • Ed Pentico
    Elder

Ed answered God’s calling on his life when he was 20 years old, accepting Jesus Christ as His Lord and Savior. Since that time, he has been honored and privileged to serve Christ and His Body, including at Canyon Community Church. Ed has been both a deacon and an elder within the church. He has led home fellowship meetings, taught during Sunday morning services, and developed and taught curriculum for new members’ classes. Ed has also been very active in children’s and youth ministries at Canyon. He has been a leader/captain in the Christian Youth Sailing Society, a discipleship and sailing program for children 9-15. Ed has also taken great joy ministering to children through Canyon’s Vacation Bible School. Moreover, he has co-authored a Rite of Passage program to serve as transition for the high school youth emerging as young adults in the community. Ed has been married for 25 years and raised 3 children with his wife Peggy. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in Business and Management from the University of Redlands. Ed enjoys watching movies, reading, sailing and sharing the Word of God. His interests in cars, sailboats, planes, and video games have provided many opportunities to “become all things to all people” in reaching out to others. Ed continues to be amazed at what the Father teaches him through the Holy Spirit, the Bible, friends, and family. He fully embraces love and truth in ministry, and brings encouragement to many.

  • Paul Maley
    Elder

Paul became a Christian during his sophomore year at UCLA. After that he became active in his church’s college group as a teacher and small group leader. He met his future wife Sharon there a few years later and both graduated with degrees in theatre. Paul and Sharon have been partners in many creative ministries over the years, using their dramatic gifts in several church plants, and in professional theatre and educational work. Paul has served as a deacon, Sunday School teacher, and an elder during his ten years at Canyon. For the past 6 years he has also served as MC for the church’s annual crazy talent show, the Christmas “Thing.” He especially enjoys opportunities to preach and teach – to point others to the truths of God’s word, and how we can embrace and apply them to our lives while we walk as sometimes struggling believers in an unbelieving culture. Paul has been married to Sharon for 28 years. Their children Ellen and Ben have been blessed by the ministries at Canyon and have both dedicated their lives to Christ and to Christian ministry. Another aspect of following Christ that is close to Paul’s heart is the role of the local church in the lives of believers, and how God miraculously uses the Body of Christ, an amazing collection of imperfect people living out their faith together, to be His hands and feet and voice on earth.
