    Brian Larson

Brian Larson and his young family moved to the Truckee area from Southern California in the summer of 1975. Having ministered in various denominational churches for a total of about eight years, in 1978 he stepped out in faith and began a nondenominational fellowship in the North Lake Tahoe area. By June of 1981, the small fellowship had moved to the high school auditorium in Truckee, and it was then that we became known as Calvary Chapel of Truckee. It has been Pastor Brian’s vision that this church would be a God-built church. In other words, we would not depend on the methods and means of man, but solely on the guiding and direction of the Holy Spirit. Consequently, the emphasis of this ministry is simply on the building up of the body of Christ through the clear, objective teaching of the Word of God, the praise and worship of His Name, and prayer; seeking the leading of the Holy Spirit in all we undertake as a church. We firmly believe that as the body is fed and nourished in His Word, they will grow in His grace and love, and the work of the Lord will flourish; God accomplishing His purposes and plans through the body as a whole. Over the years we have witnessed the faithfulness of God to guide and build His church. We have seen the fruit of lives that have been freed up to follow Jesus Christ with their whole hearts. Dozens of ministries have had their birth in the hearts of people in this auditorium. The youth of this church have taken the gospel all over the western United States and into Mexico. Many of the brethren have stepped out in short-term, and even long-term missions into various places all over the world, even to far away places like China! As a fellowship of believers in the Lord Jesus Christ, we have no membership per se. Anyone who acknowledges Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior, and considers Calvary Chapel of Truckee his home church, is welcome into the fellowship of this church as a fellow member. The church owns 126 acres of land about five miles north of town at Klondike Flat. As our faith is totally in the Lord God, we are committed to build a facility completely debt-free in the near future. Admittedly, that will require another miracle from God, to go along with all the other miracles we have been blessed to witness from His hand over the years. You are warmly invited to join us, one in the Spirit with us.
