I have been a minister since getting the calling while I served as a Garland Police Officer in Garland, Texas. I battled the calling as I was an electrician by trade and loved being a Police Officer and helping people. The LORD laid it on my heart to serve HIM in a different capacity. So I started teaching Sunday School. I did that for a few years, but the LORD continued to press me to a higher calling. I prayed and told the LORD that I was a Master Peace Officer, but I was equipped to preach the Gospel. He continued to put in my Spirit to trust HIM. One day in my squad car, I had an 1 1/2 hour grand mal seizure. They rushed me to the hospital and gave me a 50/50 chance of living and told my family that if I lived that I would be a vegetable. Well GOD had other plans for this hard-headed guy. I had brain surgery which stopped all my seizures, needless to say that I surrendered to the calling of the Ministry on my life. However when I did that, my wife divorced and the advised that they could not take a chance on me having another seizure on duty. They were honorable and put me on paid leave so I could get my 20 yrs in and get full retirement-PRAISE JESUS! I relocated to Wills Point and began preaching at a local nursing home and found a good Bible teaching church where the Pastor allowed me to fill in for him when he was sick or had to be out of town. The Deacon body voted and made me the Associate Pastor over Outreach. I would encourage anyone who is looking to grow Spiritually to come and be welcomed at Calvary Baptist Church in Wills Point.
