    Kit Carlson

Rev. Katherine “Kit” Carlson began her tenure in February 2007. She comes to All Saints from Church of the Ascension in Gaithersburg, Maryland, where she was associate rector, then interim rector following the rector's retirement. She served Ascension for more than six years, following her graduation from Virginia Theological Seminary in 2000. While at Ascension, she oversaw the development of three additional worship services in the renovated historic chapel, added a labyrinth and centering prayer ministry and an annual silent retreat. She is definitely not a silent person, however. Kit loves almost every kind of music and enjoys singing and playing the cello. She loves the outdoors, especially the Copper Country of Michigan's Upper Peninsula, and she likes camping, boating and backpacking. She spent two undergraduate years at MSU (where she worshipped with both All Saints and Canterbury-MSU), and the second two years at University of Florida (Go Gators!), where she met her husband, Wendell Lynch. They have been married since 1980 and have two grown children, Andrew and Katie Carlson-Lynch. Prior to becoming a priest, Kit was a journalist, freelance writer, book author, community coordinator for an au pair program, editor of Discovery Channel's print magazine, marketing director for a long-term care company, and a stay-at-home mom. She is grateful to God for guiding her to put all that experience to good work in one single occupation.
