About Us

intergenerational, Presbyterian, creative, artist, community, contemporary

Knox Presbyterian Church is an intergenerational community revitalized and empowered by the Holy Spirit. In grateful response and ever dependent upon the grace of Christ, we strive to worship God creatively, serve others compassionately, and encourage one another to become all that Christ has called us to be.

Our Services

Sunday
10:00am
Join us for an intergenerational worship service with creative expressions of worship. Sunday School meets for children and youth. Middle School and High School youth remain in the service on the 1st Sunday of the month.

What to Expect

What are services like?
Knox gathers for worship weekly on Sunday mornings at 10:00 am. On most Sundays, children stay through the children’s sermon (roughly 20 minutes into the service), and then head to Sunday School. Nursery ministry for the entire worship service is available for those three years old and younger. There is a nursing and infant room just off the Narthex in the Sanctuary. Youth remain in the service on the first Sunday of the month. Most other Sundays, youth are dismissed to Gathering after the children’s sermon. Dress: People tend to dress on the casual side at Knox, though you will see some people dressed “business casual,” others in shorts or jeans, still others in a dress or suit and tie. It’s hard to go wrong at Knox in terms of what you wear. Parking: You can enter our main parking lot from either Del Mar (just East of Hill avenue) or Cordova. There is also street parking available along Cordova and its side streets. Parking is limited on the First Sunday of the month due to the flea market across the street at PCC. Street parking is usually available off of Hill across from CalTech. The Lord’s Table: We celebrate communion at Knox the first Sunday of each month. Music: Knox endeavors to include and “blend” traditional and contemporary musical forms. Most Sundays you’ll hear a traditional pipe organ on some hymns, and other songs accompanied by a full band with guitars, mandolin, piano and percussion. Some Sundays you’ll hear a violin solo, other Sundays a duet or an a cappella anthem, and other Sundays a Bluegrass set.

What is the community like?
Knox is an intergenerational community made up of Fuller, Cal Tech, and PCC students, as well as theological professors, scientists, teachers, doctors, and lawyers. There are many families with young children and we have a thriving youth ministry for 5th and 6th graders, middle school, and high school. We participate in classes, dinners, movie nights, and work together to build the kingdom of God in the Pasadena community and throughout the world through mission efforts.
