Westminster Presbyterian Church

About Us

A redeemed community, reaching out at the intersections of life

We are a congregation of the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA) serving Fort Myers, Fort Myers Beach, Cape Coral and Sanibel Island.

As a ‘redeemed’ community, we are a group of people who have been saved from our sin and its eternal consequences through the work of God’s ‘Redeemer,’ Jesus Christ. We are no longer a collection of individuals each following Jesus solely on our own, but a family, united to one another through our union and communion with Christ. As a community, we are bound over to a life of love, service, and mutual care, concern and prayer for one another.

As the product of God’s own reaching out to a sinful world through His Son, we cannot help but reach out to others as He has extended His heart and His hand to us in Jesus. Each of us individually— and all of us together as a congregation—cross paths with countless people each and every day where we live, where we work, where we play, and where we learn. Our goal as a congregation is to equip, support and unleash each person in this ‘redeemed community’ to engage those they meet at their individual intersections, and to band together in partnership to reach out as a church to those whose lives we touch as a congregation.

What to Expect

What are services like?
Our worship, like many of our practices, is rooted in a long history of church tradition. While we seek to sing the best expressions of modern music, we also embrace the rich heritage of the historic Church, which finds its root in the Old Testament. We sing psalms and hymns – some traditional and some more modern. Overriding our philosophy of worship is a conviction that God’s Word – the Bible – is true and authoritative. Therefore, the Bible informs the substance of our worship. We will read Scripture together, pray together, thank God for his Word, and preach what the Bible teaches, even when it makes us uncomfortable. We also believe that a worship service is a conversation between God and his people where God’s covenant faithfulness is displayed, and we come for covenant renewal. As God speaks to us from his Word, we respond in worship, praise, adoration, and confession. We are then sent out by God’s benediction, his Word being the final voice we hear as we dismiss from worship. Join us as the corporate body of Christ as we worship our risen Savior.

What is the community like?
We are a multi-generational community that enjoys being a family together. While we offer opportunities for people at different stages in life to grow and develop spiritually as they face the opportunities and challenges that each stage presents, we're at our best when we're acting like an extended family with and for one another. Stretching across the common divides of human life isn't always easy, but it does offer the opportunity to grow in love toward one another...and that's the way everyone--including us--will know that we belong to the One who first loved us!

What if I'm not a Christian?
You are more than welcome! We believe that the message of Jesus Christ answers not only the need of the world, it answers the deepest needs of every human heart. We want to be the kind of place where you can learn what the Bible says about those things in an atmosphere of acceptance and love, and where you'll be invited to respond to those things personally and grow in your understanding and love for God along with us.
