What to Expect

What are services like?
Our 8:30 am Sunday service is held in our chapel where we sing traditional hymns, hear a sermon and partake in weekly communion. Our 10 am service is held in our sanctuary where we sing traditional hymns, have a time for children, listen to scripture and sermons that relate to our everyday lives. Nursery is available for both services. Our 5 pm service on the second and fourth Sunday evenings of the month (except May-August) is designed to include the participation of persons of all abilities. We sing simple choruses,a ct act the Bible lesson and then reflect on the lesson as a community.

What is the community like?
We are a multi-generational, well-educated community that is welcoming visitors. A visitor would encounter older adults, families with children or teens and singles of a variety of ages. We are actively involved in interfaith work, tutoring and supporting an elementary school in a low-income area of Pontiac, Foster Care, and other mission outreach opportunities. We are mainly Caucasian but we have members and attenders from a wide variety of ethnic backgrounds. In addition we have a number of same sex couples who are active in the church.

What if I'm not a Christian?
You will be welcomed with open arms. We call ourselves Everybody's Church, not because we think we are the church for everybody, but because everybody is welcome to attend, learn and explore what the Christian faith is all about. Though we know who we are as a Christian community, we do not push our beliefs on those who are either of a different religious background, or who are simply exploring what the church and faith are all about.
