What are services like?
At Catalyst Church, we’re all about Jesus—and the only way to get to know Jesus is to understand what the Bible says about him, which also includes what he said about himself.
And while this might mean you’ll learn some things on how to be a better person, how to have a better marriage, or how to be more fulfilled in life—that’s not really the point. Because without Jesus, nothing matters. It’s because of Jesus that we can be a better person. Only Jesus can make a marriage better. And true fulfillment is only found in Jesus. This means we teach from the Bible, because the Bible is all about Jesus.
The sermons are long. About an hour or so each. Yet, people keep coming. Why do we do this? Because the Bible tells us that faith comes by hearing the word of God, the Bible. So we want to preach as much of it as we can. All our sermons are online, so you can check out all this by giving a listen yourself.
Catalyst Church music is loud, a mix of old and new, and always about Jesus. God has blessed Catalyst Church with talented musicians who love Jesus and serve His church through newer music and fresh takes on old hymns. But more than just entertainment, our music is part of the way in which we prepare our hearts and minds to hear the word and to respond to that word. Also, as part of our worship, we take communion together and give offerings to support God’s work at Catalyst Church. All in all, the atmosphere is casual, reflective, and open to all.
What is the community like?
Catalyst Church is made up of real people...just like you and me. It's a place where "it's okay...to not be okay". You don't have to put on a facade to come to church with us. When we say, "Come as you are."... we really mean it!
What if I'm not a Christian?
Welcome...
We extend a special welcome to those who are single, married, divorced,
gay, fithy rich, dirt poor, or yo no habla Ingles. We extend a special
welcome to those who are crying new-borns, skinny as a rail or could
afford to lose a few pounds.
We welcome you if you can sing like Justin Bieber or like some who can’t
carry a note in a bucket. You’re welcome here if you’re “just browsing,”
just woke up or just got out of jail. We don’t care if you’re more Catholic
than the Pope, or haven’t been in church since little Joey’s Baptism.
We extend a special welcome to those who are over 60 but not grown
up yet, and to teenagers who are growing up too fast. We welcome
soccer moms, NASCAR dads, starving artists, tree-huggers, latte-sippers,
vegetarians, junk-food eaters. We welcome those who are in recovery or
still addicted. We welcome you if you’re having problems or you’re down
in the dumps or if you don’t like “organized religion,” we've been there,
too.
If you blew all your offering money at the lottery ticket counter, you’re
welcome here. We offer a special welcome to those who think the earth
is flat, work too hard, don’t work, can’t spell, or because grandma is in
town and wanted to go to church.
We welcome those who are inked, pierced or both. We offer a special
welcome to those who could use a prayer right now, had religion
shoved down your throat as a kid or got lost in traffic and wound up
here by mistake. We welcome tourists, seekers and doubters, bleeding
hearts … and you!
