What to Expect

What are services like?
Like most Episcopal churches, our worship follows the 1979 Book of Common Prayer, typically we use the modern English version (known as Rite II) so not much "thee/thou/thine" going on. You can check out the Book of Common prayer online: https://www.bcponline.org/ On Sundays, you can also expect music, offered in the form of congregational hymns and our choir's anthems. I could go on, but perhaps you'd prefer to see for yourself! Our livestream archive is available on our YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCpx0dqC5YeDe6bNUsqxzidQ

What is the community like?
Warm and friendly, the passing of the peace has been known to get a little out of hand! St. Stephen's is very much the little church that could, and despite the small size, does a lot of good in the community from offering itself as a homeless shelter (as part of PORT) in the winter, to assisting the working class with their laundry in Hampers & Hope. If you are looking for more than just a place to worship, but to also make a difference with other loving people, St. Stephen's might be where God is calling you to be.

What if I'm not a Christian?
We're glad you are here! Walking into a church you don't know is hard, we admire your courage. We encourage you to stick around, and see if you feel, hear, or see something worthwhile. Though communion is only available to the baptized, we would encourage you to sit and talk with Fr. Kyle. Wrestling with difficult questions is one of his favorite things to do, as well as encouraging those who are still figuring out what they believe. So, ask him your questions and bring your doubts; he can't promise an answer, but it'll make his day.
