What people say about Waianae United Methodist Church

• In the 70s, when I was being sent to Vietnam, no other church would marry Kathy and I, because churches required months of pastoral counseling. I was supposed to leave for Vietnam within 7 weeks. Rev. Jim Hamilton stated that he would meet with us once per week for four weeks and would decide whether he thought that we would be able to make the lifelong journey together. Rev. Hamilton performed the ceremony on Nanakuli Beach at sunset on Sept 13, 1974. Next month we will celebrate our 49th anniversary.
