Who We Are
We exist to join God in "pointing people to the truth of the gospel."
We understand that everyone's life points somewhere and we believe that the gospel is not only the gate onto the Christian path, but also the ground that the Christian walks on. The gospel not only brings us in, it also builds us up. So it is our ongoing mission to point ourselves and our city to the truth of who God is for us in Jesus and who we are in Him.
God has spoken in the Scriptures. The Bible is the inspired Word of God, the only infallible and divine authority in all matters of faith and life.
There is only one God and He is eternal and self-existing in three persons (Father, Son and Holy Spirit).
God has created the entire universe out of nothing.
God created man in His image, with great dignity and value, to have fellowship with God and to glorify and enjoy Him.
All mankind participated in Adam's fall from his original sinless state and is thus lost in sin. Sin has bound us, broken us, and left us unable to save ourselves.
God's gracious plan for the salvation of His people from all ages included the giving of His one and only begotten Son, the God-man Jesus Christ, to serve as their mediator and all-sufficient Savior.
Jesus Christ serves as prophet, priest and king for His people. As Prophet, He is God's spokesman, revealing the truth to us. As Priest, He is our representative, having taken our sins upon Himself, having offered Himself as a sacrifice to satisfy divine justice and to reconcile us to God. As King, He is our Lord, Ruler, and Defender. He subdues us to Himself, rules and defends us, and conquers all of His and our enemies.
The salvation earned by Christ is applied to us by the Holy Spirit, who convinces us of our sin and enables us to receive Christ by faith alone.
God declares those who trust in Jesus Christ alone to be considered righteous (justified) in His sight, not for any merit of their own, but for the merit of Christ, which is imputed to them and received by faith alone. Through justification the undeserving sinner is considered clothed with the perfect righteousness of Christ.
God adopts all those whom He justifies–receiving them into His own family, making them joint heirs with Christ and giving them all the rights, privileges and responsibilities that had previously been granted only to the Son.
God expects His people to be growing in Christ-likeness by drawing near to Jesus Christ in ongoing repentance and faith. God calls His people to be dying more to sin and living more for the sake of righteousness, knowing that the goal of God's salvation is holiness, good works, and service for the glory of God.
At death, God will receive those who have trusted in Christ into glory to be with Christ forever, our souls at death, and our bodies in the final resurrection when Christ comes again. At death the Christian's soul passes immediately into the presence of God and the unbeliever's soul is eternally separated from God unto condemnation.
Jesus Christ will return to earth, visibly and bodily, at a time when He is not expected, to consummate history and the eternal plan of God. God will bring all things to a consummation at the final Judgment, taking His own to be with Him forever, and casting all others into hell forever.
