Who We Are

The Brooklyn Free Methodist Church traces its history back to the beginning of the Free Methodist Denomination in 1860, just before the outbreak of the Civil War. We were among the first Free Methodist Churches that came into existence, and we have been faithfully meeting ever since. The construction of our current building was begun in November of 1867, and completed in 1868, and it has largely remained unchanged. We have been a part of East Otto NY and north central Cattaraugus County for 152 years, and we look forward to what God has in store for us.

Our Services

What are services like?
The services are generally laid back but very reverent, and there is a lot of freedom in them.

What is the community like?
Brooklyn/East Otto, is nothing like the slightly more famous Brooklyn which is about 400 miles east of East Otto. It is a small farming community with a lot of generational focus, and it's not uncommon to see many cows grazing out in the pastures or Amish buggies on the roads.

What if I'm not a Christian?
We want you to know about Christ, but we will not brow beat, and we will go out of our way to make you feel welcome. We don't believe in forced conversion or coercion, but we do see salvation as a free gift from God, provided through the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus, and that it is through Him and Him alone we have the hope of eternity in heaven.
