About Us

Florida-Bahamas Synod of the ELCA - Lutherans are Christians - We confess that Jesus is the son of God, God's self, who became human, died and was raised from the dead so that all who believe in him would have eternal life.
We believe we can best understand God in the life, death and resurrection of Jesus. At St. Timothy we preach about and pray to a saving God who teaches, heals, and renews life.
We call God 'Father". We acknowledge God as the creator of the universe and we acknowledge that God maintains a parental relationship to creation in which he is committed to our growth and survival of creation.
We believe that all God's children are created good, but sin has separated us from Him. Sin is not so much individual acts of wrongdoing as a fractured relationship between God and his children.
We believe that for Jesus' sake God forgives our sin and brings us into a right relationship with God. This right relationship is called righteousness or the stae of being justified by God's grace through faith.
We consider humans to be both sinners and saints at the same time. On our own we are sinners but through our faith in Jesus Christ, God gives us forgiveness and the power to overcome sin.
We believe faith is a gift to us.We are not able to come to faith on our own, but by God's Holy Spirit our hearts are moved to believe in a loving and saving God and take hold of faith.

Communion is served at every service. Sunday morning 8:00 early service is a mixture of a spoken service and a folk service. It features a short puppet script for both the young and young-at-heart prior to the sermon based on the text of the day. Music is accompanied by our Folk Choir or presented by our Chimes Choir. Communion is served at every service. Sunday morning 10:30 service is a traditional setting 3 service except the last Sunday of the month is a setting 10 service. The liturgy is accompanied by the Chancel Choir and the organist. This 10:30 service also features a short puppet script prior to the sermon. Communion is served at every service.

What is the community like?
St Timothy is a community of faith centered on Christ and following the Lutheran tradition. This community welcomes all who have been restored to God through Christ. We make no claims to perfection; rather, we believe the Church is essential to Christian life and growth. All our member are sinners in need of God's love and forgiveness. All our members are saints by the power of Christ in their lives. We exist solely to preach and teach the faith of Jesus Christ crucified, to administer the sacraments and to serve the world. We practice open communion, that, all who believe that Jesus Christ is truly present in the bread and wine are welcome at the Lord's table during all our worship services. Christian education is also open to all who seek to know God through the Bible, theology and studies of faith in daily life.

What if I'm not a Christian?
By the Grace of God, you are welcome at our church anytime! Here are some facts about Lutherans. Martin Luther's understanding of the Christian faith was the that a gracious God seeks those who are lost. For him, the matter was clear: we cannot climb to God, we cannot even meet him halfway. Rather, God comes to us in the person of Jesus. We only need to recieve God's acceptance of us in faith.
