We are a friendly, Christ-centered, energetic church located on Route 365 in Verona, New York, between Rome and Oneida. We're a congregation of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA). Our mission is to provide spiritual growth through worship, learning, fellowship, and service in the name of the Lord. What to Expect

What are services like?
We normally have two services each Sunday, 9 am and 11:15 am. 9 am is a more traditional liturgy and is more "churchy" feeling. We usually use the organ and sing hymns and liturgical music. Leaders wear albs (white robes) and the pastor preaches from the pulpit. This service has approximately 70-90 people present each Sunday. 11:15 am is a more casual liturgy with a less "churchy" feeling. The music for this service is on piano and is more like contemporary Christian music. Leaders wear their regular clothes and the pastor preaches from the aisle. This service has approximately 15-30 people present each Sunday. Holy Communion is received at the 9 am service on first and third Sundays, at the 11:15 am service on second and fourth Sundays, and on all festivals and during Advent and Lent. When there is a fifth Sunday, or for other special occasions, we often have one blended service at 10 am. Please call or email to confirm worship times if you are planning to come on Sunday for the first time. You can also look at the Google calendar on our website, www.stpetersverona.org.

What is the community like?
Verona's roots are as a farming community, and many people in the congregation today are still farmers or retired farmers. But with the New York State Thruway and Route 365 running right through Verona, we are now home to people who work in Syracuse and Utica in all sorts of industries. The people who choose to live here do so because they appreciate the rural lifestyle that revolves around church, school, and family. But because of our unique location, we are more than just a farming town. We are a growing and changing community. We are also home to the Turning Stone Resort and Vernon Downs Racino--major employers in the area.

What if I'm not a Christian?
We will feed you, listen to you, talk to you, and try to answer any questions you might have. We hope you will experience the love of Christ that has brought us here, but if not, we will still be a gathering place for the community, including you, and you are welcome here.
