St Pauls United Methodist Church

About Us

Call.Nurture.Send. A large, vibrant church in the heart of State College.

We are a large, vibrant church in the heart of downtown State College, right across the street from Penn State University. Our campus ministry includes the Wesley Student Fellowship, the Abba Java Coffee House, and Kappa Phi Christian Womens' Sorority. We have a weekday Christian Pre-School and a children's ministry with over 100 kids every Sunday morning. The youth ministry welcomes 6th through 12th graders to K-Cafe from 9 am to 10:15, Sundays and various times throughout the month. We have over 40 adult small groups that meet during the week, national and international mission trips, and many other opportunities to grow in the Christian faith. Holy Communion is offered every Sunday at 8 am. Traditional worship is at 9:15. And we have a special children's message during worship at 10:45.

What to Expect

What are services like?
We love music. Hymns, Gospel, Classical, Modern. Our choirs are often accompanied by musicians from the Penn State School of Music. Our Director of Music, organists and pianists are very gifted. After the opening hymn and prayer we always take time to pass the peace of Christ to one another. The scriptures are read and the message proclaimed. In response to the word, we usually sing and prepare for a time of prayer, offering ourselves and our gifts to the God who gave us our salvation. The service ends with a closing hymn and blessings for the coming week.

What is the community like?
We try hard to be a warm and caring community. We have folks who have been members for over 50 years and some just wanting to know more about the Christian faith.

What if I'm not a Christian?
If you are not a Christian, you are still welcome to join our fellowship. It is our hope and prayer that you will come to know the love, peace, and joy of a relationship with Jesus through our life together. The pastors are always available to talk.
