Who We Are

From the moment you enter St. Matthew's, you feel warmth, from it's rough wood architecture to the grandeur of the stained glass window behind the altar. The faith of a few in 1934, have brought us to many new beginnings in the life of St. Matthew's. First organized at a meeting in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Randolph Harris, St. Matthew's has grown as a strong presence for Christ in Henderson, and the surrounding area, never ceasing to offer a joyful place with a warm and caring congregation, and will do so for many years to come.

Our Services

What are services like?
Have you ever read until the end of a good mystery novel only to find yourself shuttering when the 'who done it' character was revealed? You were so wrapped-up in the journey that the author took you on that you truly became a part of the story. At St. Matthew's we believe that worship is that same self-wrapping as we join in discovering the greater story of Jesus Christ, and weekly we remind ourselves of that through reverent worship, audible prayers, greeting and enjoying one another's fellowship, and through Holy Communion.

What is the community like?
Our lives are bound to those that we share then with: family, friends, and neighbors. At St. Matthew's, our parishioners know that St. Matthew's Episcopal Church exists for its community. Donating their time and talents to providing and help one another, and becoming a living image of our Lord, Jesus Christ

What if I'm not a Christian?
Going to any church, especially when visiting for the first time, may feel a little strange and intimidating. We want you to be able to relax and feel welcome and able to participate as you choose.
