St. Matthew's Church

About Us

St. Matthew's Episcopal Church is a parish of the Diocese of West Missouri located in Raytown. In 2003 we celebrated our 50th anniversary of service in the Raytown community.
We are an active congregation with many opportunities for Ministry both within and outside the parish. Stewardship of relationships is a priority at St. Matthews. We care for and respect each other and it shows in our care of visitors and newcomers. You are always welcome and hospitality is a ministry we take seriously.
The worship of God is our most important work when we gather as God's people. Typically, our worship follows a very traditional pattern: hear and respond to scripture, pray, and celebrate communion. While most worship is led by clergy, many lay people participate in every part of the service - including children and youth - on a regular basis. Much scripture from both the Old and New Testament is a focal point of worship and all the baptized are welcome to receive communion. For details about what to expect if you attend a worship service at St. Matthew's please click on the link below.
We worship on Saturdays at 4:00 p.m. with Rite I and Sundays at 10:15 p.m. with Rite II using the Book of Common Prayer. Additional worship opportunities are scheduled on Holy Days and in the seasons of Advent and Lent. Members of the congregation of all ages are active in liturgical ministry at St. Matthew's as acolytes, lectors, and Lay Eucharistic Ministers and Visitors
