Our Services

What to Expect

What are services like?
Weekend services typically have traditional Episcopal worship: music and hymns, prayers and an order of worship from the Book of Common Prayer, four scripture readings from the Bible, a sermon, and Holy Communion. Our Wednesday services may use prayers and an order of worship from Enriching Our Worship instead of the Book of Common Prayer, and on Wednesdays we don't have music.

What is the community like?
St. Martin-in-the-Fields Episcopal Church is a welcoming congregation offering spiritual sanctuary to all, regardless of race, color, gender, sexual orientation, age, ability, or socio-economic class, and to all persons who have felt marginalized in any way. We recognize each individual as a unique child of God. As we move forward with the work of this church, we commit ourselves to making justice and inclusivity a reality in this congregation and the world. Our congregation is a unique tapestry of people who come from a variety of backgrounds and lifestyles. We welcome diversity, and we gain strength, knowledge, faith and joy from one another. Whether you are just visiting, curious about Christianity, looking for a church home, or searching for a community that will embrace you as you are, we welcome you warmly and unconditionally. There is room at St. Martin’s for you. Come share your faith journey with us.

What if I'm not a Christian?
Come as you are and experience ancient worship traditions and progressive theology. The Episcopal Church is not bound together by shared positions on theological questions or by tests of true doctrine. Our unity comes from love, through worship and service together, rather than rigid adherrence to particular beliefs. Each member of our community is able to wrestle with questions of faith and arrive at different conclusions than other members within the community.
