Ancient Traditions, Progressive Values

St. John’s is a house of prayer where all people can come to know the compassionate heart of Jesus.

We are a diverse community of progressive Christians where you can belong before you believe. At St. John’s the beauty of ancient worship and traditional spiritual practices transform contemporary urban lives.

Join us as together we discover the sacred in the heart of the city. Our worship includes ancient and contemporary symbols and practices and preaching to inspire you to follow Jesus in your daily life. We welcome both the spiritual seeker and seasoned disciple to find their home in God with us.

What to Expect

What are services like?
7:30 am Sunday: a short yet traditional mass. 9:00 am Sunday: a short, modern, family-oriented mass. 11:00 am Sunday: a full, traditional mass. 6:30 pm Wednesday: a short (30-45 minutes) contemplative mass. All services center around the Gospel and Communion, as well as progressive social values.

What is the community like?
Our congregation is open, diverse, loving, and welcoming. We have different ministries for almost every interest: Cathedral Arts Guild, Food Pantry, The FlipSide (20's/30's group)

What if I'm not a Christian?
We are a diverse and welcoming community where you can belong before you believe. We believe the risen Jesus is alive and at work in the world seeking to transform society through his way of living. Jesus invites everyone to follow on the path of discipleship and enter into a relationship with him. The Christian life is both personal and communal, so if you are a seeker wanting to know more about Christianity, you're welcome to join us on the journey. Come and see what we are all about.
