About Us

We are a family of Christians raising our children in Christian faith.

Welcome to St. John UCC, the Church on the Park!

We offer a relevant worship service with a modern message at 9:30 a.m. every Sunday. Church School for all youth aged preschool through 5th grade is held weekly. Middle and high school classes are held on the 2nd through 5th Sundays of the month. Nursery care is also available for children up to age 3 during the service.

After our service, delicious coffee and snacks are always served in our Fellowship Hall. Communion services are held on the 1st Sunday of each month and on holidays and other special occasions.

At St. John, all people are welcome (and we really mean it here!). We have a long history of accepting varying ideas and opinions about religion and other issues in our congregation. St. John is an Open and Affirming church, which seeks to incorporate ALL people regardless of culture, economic status, age, sex, ethnicity, race, sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression, marital status, or physical/mental condition.

Look at our website (www.churchonthepark.com) or call the church office at 1.847.255.6687 to learn more about our bible studies, vocal choirs, bell choirs, youth groups, adult social groups, or just to ask about anything you'd like to know about St. John!

What to Expect

What are services like?
Services at St. John are becoming increasingly diverse in it's style and tone. We still sing the "old-time" hymns, but are now singing more diverse songs with a variety of performers and instruments. We have a large and active adult vocal choir (which performs every other week) and 2 bell choirs providing bell music once or twice a month. We cordially invite you to join us at 9:30 a. m. every Sunday for our services.

What is the community like?
To sum it up in a few terms: Welcoming, accepting, loving, caring, and diverse. We welcome and accept all Christians into our membership, regardless of of their age, race, creed, sexual orientation, beliefs, or politics. Old friendships were made at St. John long ago, and new friendships are still made today! We look out for each other during the good times and not-so-good times. We manage to do all this while still being diverse. There's a wide mix of ages at St. John. Our members are gay, straight, bisexual, transgender, liberal, moderate, conservative, single, married, divorced, widowed, and (most) everything else you can think of! We are proud of our diversity at St. John, as it binds us into a tight-knit community!

What if I'm not a Christian?
At St. John, all people are welcome regardless of their age, race, creed, sexual orientation, beliefs, or politics. Non-Christians are included in this! You are welcome to visit us for any reason, and we at St. John love to learn about other cultures, religions, and ideas. For example, the well-received Wednesday evening Lenten programs for 2013 and 2014 featured guest speakers from a total of 9 different faiths!
