In 1995, she received a Master of Divinity degree from Trinity Lutheran Seminary, Columbus, Ohio. She was ordained to the Ministry of Word and Sacrament on December 16, 1995. She served Salem Lutheran Church in Flint, Michigan from 1995 through 2009. In the past several years, she has served as a part-time hospital chaplain in the Charleston area. In the "Reflections on Ministry" segment of her Rostered Leader Profile, Pastor Thulie writes, "I am called to lead God's people, pointing all those I come across to the one and only 'Hope of the World,' Jesus Christ. As a rostered leader in the ELCA and its affiliates, I am convinced that I have to live a life that points others to Christ, not meaning that I have reached perfection, but that those who come across me can see that I am a Child of God, saved by grace, and living as a new creation."
