John Wesley and the early Methodists placed primary emphasis on Christian living, on putting faith and love into action. This emphasis on what John Wesley referred to as “practical divinity” has continued to be a hallmark of United Methodism today.

Here are some basics:

There is but one living and true God, everlasting, without body or parts, of infinite power, wisdom, and goodness; the maker and preserver of all things, both visible and invisible. And in unity of this Godhead there are three persons, of one substance, power, and eternity—the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Basically, we believe in the one true, holy and living God, Eternal Spirit, who is Creator, Sovereign and Preserver of all things visible and invisible

The Bible contains all things necessary to salvation. We take God’s word most seriously and is the basis for our life together as a church

God saves us from our sin and broken relationships through God’s own unwavering love for the world. This extraordinalry love was demonstrated in the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus. We are set right by God’s faith and it is a most comforting doctrine. And made to share.

Sacraments ordained of Christ are the certain signs of grace, and God’s good will toward us, by which God works invisibly in us, and animates and strengthens our faith. Sacraments are available to all.

Everyone can respond to God’s grace with right actions such as giving generously to the poor, healing the broken-hearted, caring for our neighbors, and working for peace.
