About Us

Welcoming, friendly church; open communion every Sunday

Parma Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) was established in 1955. We are located on Ridge Road about half a mile south of the Parmatown Shopping Center.
The Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) is a mainline denomination, tracing its roots back to the early 1800s. This denomination founded a number of well-known colleges, including Hiram, Bethany, and Texas Christian. Three United States Presidents have had connections with this denomination -- President Garfield was also a church pastor.
All visitors are welcome at our church. We have open communion at every Sunday worship service and at some other special services throughout the year. The Disciples of Christ symbol is a chalice with the Saint Andrews cross, again emphasizing our celebration of Holy communion. The cross becomes upright as the chalice is tipped to spread its contents across Christianity.
Parma Christian Church is in involved in a number of community activities,. We have a food pantry that helps 50 or more area families. We are the focus church for the Parma Health Ministry, which works with Parma Hospital to provide medical care for the "working poor" that are unable to afford regular health insurance.
Additionally, an ethnic Ukrainian congregation also meets in our facility, having their Sunday worship at 2:00 pm. Parma Christian Church and the Ukrainian congregation share their talents to enhance our fellowship. One example is their decorating the sanctuary during Advent leading to a live nativity service.

What to Expect

What are services like?
Church services include special music, the pastor's message and an open communion service. Lay church elders preside at the communion, which is celebrated at every Sunday worship.

What is the community like?
We have a welcoming church community. Like many mainline churches, our membership has tended to gracefully age. However, we enthusiastically welcome and enable younger members.

What if I'm not a Christian?
All those seeking to discover the living Christ or develop a closer relationship with Him are welcome to our church.
