God Centered
We do not assemble on Sundays to be entertained but to worship God in spirit and truth (John 4:23-24). It is our aim that God would be glorified and the gospel proclaimed for the edification of the saints (Eph. 4:11-16) and the salvation of the lost (Matt. 28:16-20).

Gospel Exalting
The reason we exist as a congregation is because of the good news of the gospel of Jesus Christ (1 John 4:9-12). It is our joy to boldly declare the good news in our worship, fellowship, work, and relationships (Col. 3:17).

Christ Glorifying
We desire at Ocean Park to embody the theological saying, "We are most satisfied when God is most glorified". Jesus Christ is our soul's greatest desire and our pleasure to magnify throughout our worship (Rev. 5). He is the radiance of the glory of God (Heb. 1:3-4) and the only eternal satisfaction for our soul (Ps 16:11).

Biblically Saturated
The Word of God is the completed revelation of God and the ultimate source of truth for the believer (2 Timothy 3:16-17). It is our desire that every aspect of our worship service come under the authority of scripture. All our prayers, songs, and preaching must reflect the glory of God, the beauty of Christ, and the truth of the gospel (Eph 5:18-21).

What to Expect

What are services like?
Sunday Morning Sunday Morning worship is the pinnacle of the week as a local church body. We assemble to lift our adoration to the one true God while hearing His word read, preached, and sung. The music we choose for our worship service is content driven and not by musical style. During our services you will hear traditional and contemporary hymns sung to various musical styles. We desire that when one leaves the worship service they consider the truths we sung not how the music was done. Our worship service will also included the reading of large passages of scripture (a Psalm and both Old and New Testament readings), responsive readings from one of the Gospels, and an occasional choir arrangement or special music. Pastor Chris preaches expositionally through various books of the Bible. Sunday Evening Sunday Evenings are much more casual. Two main elements of Sunday evening worship are Light to the Nations, a mission prayer emphasis, and God's Redemption Story, which follows the "Big Picture" of the Gospel from Genesis to Revelation. The teaching time utilizes powerpoint and interaction to unfold the work of God throughout scripture and the world.

Ocean Park Baptist Church seeks to build our church on the foundation of the Word of God. What if I'm not a Christian?
All are welcome to come and attend worship. We sing songs that praise who God is and what he has done. We have Bible-readings and a sermon that explains how a particular Biblical passage is relevant to today (typically 40 minutes). Once a month we celebrate the Lord's Supper which is reserved for Baptized believers. We will not single you our or ask you to participate in any manner. You are welcome to come, listen, and watch as we seek to be faithful in our worship.
