What people say about Miller's Chapel A.M.E. Church

  • a pillar in my family's history. As you can see by my father's posts, we are trying to get information about Rev. Sam Miller, Sr. who was the presiding pastor (and I believe the founder of the original Miller's Chapel).

I am also going through other sources to get information about those who are deceased and buried in the Miller's Chapel Cemetery since it was also used as a place of burial and as a school.

I can be reached via email at [email protected] or carl.holmes [email protected]

God Bless you all and hope you are all being safe in Sumner, Georgia!! (message from the State of California)

  • This is Carl Holmes again.

God bless you is my prayer

Yes, I am a preacher too! (smile)

  • Miller's Chapel is a very important Church in my family's history. You see, my great grand father was Rev. Sam Miller who built the original Miller's Chapel in Sumner Georgia. He was married to Nettie an American Indian and they had many children. Most of the male children became preachers. One of his daughters was named Pleasant (Sarah) Miller who married Rev. Charlie Holmes who adopted all of Pleasant (Sarah) Miller's children so they took on the last name of Holmes. One of their children was named James Holmes who is my father. It is a small world!
