Our Services

What are services like?
With reckless abandon, we pursue Jesus Christ. We desire to experience His guidance and direction in every area of our life. In our services, we endeavor to create an atmosphere where all, from the youngest to the oldest can experience a God-filled moment that changes lives. We recognize that worship is simply a demonstration of value. We consider our relationship with Christ to be of such value that worship is more than just what we do in a service on Sunday, but rather it is a statement of who we are. We live to WORSHIP Jesus Christ. In so doing we demonstrate just how much He means to us. Whether through music, singing, prayer, dance or the preached word of God, any outward demonstration of worship that you experience is simply the results of hearts that desire to show just how much Jesus Christ means to them. Life Church is a church filled with worshippers.

What is the community like?
We do LIFE together. Life Church is a community of family and friends who come together to discover what it means to follow Jesus. Every ministry, program, and effort at Life Church is designed and dedicated to providing you with an authentic worship experience: an experience where you will learn how God and the Bible directly apply to your life and the circumstances you are dealing with today. At Life Church everyone is welcome. Whether you are single, married, single again, a parent, a grandparent, a teen or a child, you will find it easy to establish new meaningful relationships. Here at Life Church our purpose is two-fold: to have an authentic connection with God and engaging relationships with others.

What if I'm not a Christian?
We live in a world where people are quick to place labels on everyone. We recognize that maybe you haven't labeled yourself as a "Christian" yet. But we also know that if you are exploring this website, you are in search of something beyond where you are. Call it faith, belief, a higher power, inner peace or strength. Call it whatever you want but we all are searching for something. The Bible says that you will find God when you search for him with all of your heart. As a church we believe that the things that we are searching for can be found in a relationship with Jesus Christ. Therefore we are in a passionate pursuit of HIM.

Buddy Thompson

Buddy Thompson

Pastor Buddy & Robin have served as Senior pastors of Life Church since 1995. Buddy is a native of the Richmond area and has called Mechanicsville home for nearly all of his life. He loves the city he lives in and believes his life’s call is to reach the community that God has planted him in -the Metro Richmond, VA area. Buddy serves as an advisor to several churches around the country and has been actively involved in ministry since he was 16 years old. In 1990 he married his college sweetheart, Robin and they have two beautiful daughters, Lauren and Lindsey, who are the joy of their life. Buddy’s educational background includes a Bachelors degree in Theology from Jackson College of Ministries in 1990. He has been trying to no avail to learn Spanish for 25 years and knows just enough of the language to get himself in trouble. Buddy relaxes and gets frustrated by the same things: the Dallas Cowboys, the Virginia Cavaliers, and his golf game. His life scripture is Matt 6:33 – “but seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you.”
