Favorite verse - Psalm 37:4 - Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart.--- I love the order of this verse. If we could all attempt to give more of our lives to delighting in Jesus and nurturing a strong relationship with Him, then we can trust the places our heart is leading us. --- What I am passionate about - I am most passionate about Jesus and because of that I am most passionate about people (see Psalm 37:4 & Mark 12:29-31). I find myself gravitating toward the people who are forgotten by the world... "The least of these". I am certain that the Church is called to be the catalyst to reaching people with Faith, Hope, and Love...ALL people. I am also very passionate about my family. I love spending quality time with my wife and children. My family is amazing to me. I love the outdoors and spend most of my leisure time in the fall in a tree. I can't get enough of the woods, waters, swamps, and field edges of Michigan. Influences - I have only a few influences that have shaped my life. First I would have to say that my wife Kristy has been one of my greatest influences relating to loving deeply all things. She is a constant reminder to me that sacrificial and unconditional love is the key to abundance. My dad has also been another huge influence in my life. He instilled in me a never give up attitude and a firm belief that family is extremely important. He also introduced me to the outdoors and for that I am very blessed. Besides that, there are a few other notable influences in my life. My grandpa Ernie was a man of great integrity and love who I think about often. Erwin McManus (pastor of Mosaic in LA)inspires me with his life, writings, and sermons. Epic Moments - Marriages, becoming a father, my daughter Rachael's baptism, anytime the Packers have won a Super Bowl, my career choice to lead the body of Ignite, catalyst conference with Jason H. in LA, the moments of celebration I shared with my cousin Bill after I had harvested the 8-point buck. Book, movie, songs - Two all-time favorite books are "The Barbarian Way" - Erwin McManus, and "When God is Silent" - Barbara Brown Taylor. Movie favs are Amistad, Saving Private Ryan, and anything the Drury Brothers put out. Songs are anything from Crowder, Hillsong United, Creed, and (I may regret listing this) Taylor SwiftJ. Biggest frustration - When the Church uses its position to be about everything but what Jesus was about. Not being able to do more to end injustice in this world. What I do in my free time - (See "what I am passionate about")
