About Us

...to know Christ and to make Christ known

Holy Comforter Episcopal Church is conveniently located one mile west of I-45 on Spring Cypress Road. Members of our church live in Spring, as well as The Woodlands, Tomball, Conroe, and Houston.

All people - saints, sinners, and skeptics - are welcome at Holy Comforter. We respect your own spiritual journey, and we invite you to join us on our journey as we strive to know Christ and to make Christ known. We welcome all people, because we believe all people are created in the image of God.

As an Episcopal church, our worship is focused on the Holy Eucharist (also known as Holy Communion, the Mass, or the Lord's Supper). By participating in this holy meal, we believe that Jesus lives in us as we go about working in the Kingdom of God.

Holy Comforter has been a part of the Spring community since 1972. Our church is dedicated to serving the area, and we partner with Boy Scout Troop 401 and the Palmer Drug Abuse Program in their ministries.

What to Expect

What are services like?
There are two opportunities for Sunday worship at Holy Comforter: 8:00 AM - Holy Eucharist, communion with no music, in the Church. 10:30 AM - Holy Eucharist, communion with music and choir, in the Church. All worship services of the Holy Eucharist include communion, readings from the Bible, a sermon, and prayers. The 8:00 AM service is Rite I, with Elizabethan language. The 10:30 AM service uses Rite II, with modern language. We believe that the Holy Eucharist does not belong to any particular denomination or church. Therefore, all baptized Christians are invited to eat and drink the bread and wine of Communion. In the Episcopal Church, the Holy Eucharist is also known as Holy Communion, the Lord's Supper, or the Mass. The Holy Eucharist is an expression of God's love for us. In it, we are changed into one Body, united to God and one another. As we eat and drink as one family, we dwell in Jesus, and he in us.

What is the community like?
Parishioners at Holy Comforter are a melting pot of experiences. We are young and old, Saints, sinners and skeptics. Every parishioner at Holy Comforter is on their own journey to find and know Christ and that's what is great about us. Wherever you are on your journey, you can find support. We may not have all of the answers or the specific answer that will make you feel good but we do promise you that all questions are valid and deserve to be discussed.

What if I'm not a Christian?
Well, nobody's perfect. Regardless of your background, faith, upbringing, past, strengths, weaknesses etc... You are welcome here. Every journey to Christ is unique. There are several popular sayings that you might find on the message board at Episcopal Churches - 'Thinkers Wanted', 'We take the Bible seriously, not literally', and my favorite - 'Episcopalians worship by the book'. Again, every journey is unique and we welcome your background, ideas, questions and answers.
