Haven Community

It all began in 2004 with a couple of dreamers who envisioned a network of small house churches made up of broken people following Jesus simply and passionately. Our heart is to reduce the “clutter” in our church expressions and focus in on the essential teachings of Jesus to passionately love God and to sacrificially love the world.

The word “Haven” is originally derived from the German root “habene” which means harbor. The original function of harbors during peacetime was for ships to offload and upload cargo. But during wartime the harbor becomes the place where broken ships come to be repaired and restored and then sent back out into battle.

A significant part of our calling is to be a place of restoration and that restoration comes through Jesus and his sacrifice on the Cross. It’s not our intention to become a sedentary gathering of broken boats, but to be sent back out into our world as restored vessels of love and liberation. This is our desire and our hope for our community.
